Woman remembers father who was shot and killed in Manchester NH

A Londonderry family are mourning the loss of their husband and father after he was killed in Manchester on Saturday. Dzemal Cardakovic, 45, was shot dead at a busy South Willow Street intersection around 3.30pm on Saturday. Tyrese Harris, 22, of Manchester, is facing two counts of second-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of Cardakovic, according to the Attorney General’s Office. Cardakovic’s daughter Jasmina Cardakovic, 19, remembers her father as someone who always had a big smile on his face, was kind and selfless. “He loved showing us everything he knew,” said Jasmina Cardakovic. “That’s where I got my love for cars, that’s why I wanted to get into the automotive industry.” Dzemal Cardakovic left Bosnia for the United States in the early 2000s. “He came here with nothing and gave us everything,” said Jasmina Cardakovic. Jasmina Cardakovic said her father was a truck driver who drove the road every day. She said she was just down the street when she heard the news. “The injustice. That’s all. That’s all I can say at this point. He didn’t deserve it, that’s all. He was the kindest soul,” Jasmina Cardakovic said. “Ask anyone who knew him. He would give 110 of himself, even if he didn’t have those 10s.” Jasmina Cardakovic said her 12-year-old brother was in the truck with his father when he was killed, and he was the one who alerted their mother. “A million times I thought, ‘I wish it was me, that it was me who was there who saw this more. I could have pushed him away, don’t look, pushed him back into the truck, anything,” Jasmina Cardakovic said. “But it wasn’t.” A witness told News 9 he grabbed a medical kit and ran to help Cardakovic, but it was too late. Jasmina now thinks fondly of her father and remembers the good times. “As a father figure, I don’t think I could have anything better,” said Jasmina Cardakovic. “He always taught me to be strong.” Several parts of the road near the New Hampshire Mall were closed late Saturday night as crews remained at the scene. It is unclear what led to the shooting. The attorney general’s office said Harris will appear in court on Monday.
