The project marks the sixth year of Tuborg Open, a campaign that uses the power of music to create unique experiences for artists and fans around the world.
The mentorship experience took place in LA where unsigned artists spent one-on-one time with Jason in the studio, discussing performance, production, songwriting and what it takes to be successful in the industry. Each artist then performed for Jason, taking the stage at the Wiltern Theater, one of Los Angeles’ most iconic concert halls.
Speaking about his involvement in the campaign, Jason Derulo said:
“There’s no playbook in the music industry, so if you want to be a musician, you’re pretty much on your own. But having someone in your area who has had these experiences can make a big difference. That’s what I love about this campaign. I feel like I would have banged my head a lot less if I had had that kind of advice, so I’m grateful to be able to be a part of these talented artists’ journey.”
The artists participating in the Tuborg Open project are Dee MC (India), VEK (Nepal), Shokhrullo Abdullaev (Uzbekistan), Halko (Turkey), Iva Lorens (Serbia) and Stoposto (Bosnia). Each will continue to receive support from Tuborg over the coming months as they produce and develop the tracks they performed for Derulo.
VEK (Nepal), one of the unsigned artists participating in the campaign, said:
“The fact that I got to sit down with Jason Derulo not just to talk about music, but to talk about my music, was amazing. He gave me advice on songwriting and my performance and I ‘will apply this to my process when I get home’.

ABOUT TUBORG OPEN:
Tuborg Open uses music as a platform to encourage people to stay “open to more” and step out of their comfort zones. In the world of music, this means creating new experiences for music fans and music artists by bringing together people from different cultures and backgrounds. The idea is that there is always something new to discover – new music, new friends, new places, new experiences.
Each year, the Tuborg Open campaign is linked by an international music artist, whose music is used as the basis for collaboration with artists around the world. Below is how it has worked historically:
- “Tuborg’s Rhythm” with Major Lazer – a beat sent around the world for artists to collaborate and create their own songs
- “Stay open” with Diplo and MØ – encouraging people to stay open to new experiences by exploring new music
- “Going on Shuffle” with Clean Bandit – helping people discover new music and experiences through collaboration
- “An Irresistible Rhythm” with The Chainsmokers – creating brand new music using the unforgettable beat of “Hope”, a Chainsmokers track from the album “Sick Boy”
- “Music Unites” with David Guetta – celebrating the power of music to unite people across the world, featuring David Guetta’s track “Get Together”
