Telekom Srbija accelerates digital transformation in Serbia

BELGRADE, Serbia, January 14, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Telekom Srbija, the leading TMT in the Western Balkan region, today announces its efforts to accelerate the digital transformation of the Serbian economy and society, in line with national digitization priorities set out in the Serbian digital diary. In 2022, the company will focus on rolling out the 5G network. He will also continue his 25 million euros investments for start-ups in multiple sectors, while deepening its cooperation with Vodafone, covering Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina, to provide access to all important resources in the field of digital transformation.

A 5G spectrum auction is planned for mid-2022, followed by the implementation of the 5G network at Telekom Srbija by the end of the year. Recently, on December 15, 2021, the European Investment Bank (EIB) announced that it would lend 70 million euros to Telekom Srbija for the deployment of the 5G telecommunications network and the extension of the existing 4G network across the Republic of Serbia, recognizing us as a key market leader in the region. The EIB loan will allow 60% of Serbian residents to access the latest 5G network and extend the benefits of the 4G network to almost everyone in the country.

At the beginning of last year, Telekom Srbija established its first venture capital fund for start-up ideas, aimed at investing 25 million euros over the next five years, which means that Telekom Srbija will invest five million euros per year for start-ups in Serbia and the region. In 2022, Telekom Srbija, through its CVC fund, will continue to invest heavily in multiple business areas such as AI, Big Data, FinTech, E-commerce, IoT, Media and telecommunications, AdTech, B2B/B2C, SaaS, blockchain, etc.

The company’s cooperation with Vodafone, covering Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina, will enable the company to increase the efficiency of its operations, optimize its costs and improve the customer experience in the coming year.
