At the end of next month, the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina (FB-H) announced the hardening of epidemiological measures, which include the VPT rule, a evidence that people have either been “vaccinated, recovered or tested”.This means that employees in the health, social, and the public administration will have to respond to one of these three conditions to enter their office. In Republika Srpska(RS), they plan tthe same measure. WAlthough epidemiologists agree that this is the only way to get back to normal life, opinions of citizens are divided.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, BiH held an infamous records in the number of deaths of Covid-19, and the number of infected people reaches at least a thousand every day. Citizens have mixed opinions on the latest federal measureGovernment.
“It’s too much, when they all receive what they give us, then we will all be vaccinated “;
‘‘I support It anyway. Some things you just did;
‘‘I support this. Everyone should be vaccinated, both for their own goodand for the concern of others’‘;
“Soon there will be no more free man”;
‘‘That’s a shame. We are not sort and strain animals, âsome of the BiH citizens interviewed said.
Regarding the introduction of similar measures in the second entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, for the moment, they just think about it.
âFrom an epidemiological point of view, this measure can help us to live with full lungs, as much as possible in the event of an epidemic, and in a safer way. If people want get together, they know these people have been either vaccinated, cured of the virus, or they have been tested, which considerably reduces the possibility of transmission of the virus â, said Jela Acimovic from RS Public Health Institute.
Epidemiologists point outed that this is a measure applied by most developed countries, so there is no reason not to introduce it in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
âThe reasons for adopting these measures are to protect the health of the population and prevent the spread of the coronavirus. I hope this will have a stimulating effect on those who have not yet decided to to be vaccinated or not â, declared the canton of Zenica-Doboj Health Minister, Adnan Jupic.
âYou have several choices – one is to get vaccinated and the other is to get tested. At the moment, no one is happy with this situation, but it is something that we must pass, âsaid Andrea Juric of the Public Health Institute of the Canton of Western Herzegovina.
Tcaterers are also unhappy with the government’s new measure of the Federation. They emphasized that this will be another big blow to their business.
âThe catering and tourism sector has been on its knees for a long time now (for two years). Many facilities were closed, as well as jobs. I call the authorities to hhelp this industry to survive â, underlined Amir Hadzic fof the Association of Hotel and Restaurant Operators of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
