The Head of the European Union (EU) Delegation in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Johann Sattler, spoke yesterday on the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, where he also referred to the latest announcements by Milorad Dodik on the withdrawal of consent to the operation of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina (AFBiH), Supreme Council of Magistrates and Prosecutors (HJPC) and other state institutions.
Among other things, Sattler stressed that politicians in Bosnia and Herzegovina should focus on reform issues, not to mention any withdrawal of powers, which was observed in recent days and mentioned by the member of the presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Milorad Dodik. It will not arrive.
“There is no discussion on these issues. I think it’s time to get back to the table and start talking about things of critical interest. It takes two to tango, and in this country there are more sides and I invite them to come back and devote themselves to their tasks, ”said Sattler.
The head of the EU delegation to Bosnia and Herzegovina underlined that the country is going through an extremely important period, which will include the visit of the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen.
“We are entering an important phase for the country. Tomorrow we have a visit from Ursula von der Leyen who is coming to open the EU-funded bridge over Svilaj. This means that we invest money and do our part of the job and therefore expect local authorities to do their part and talk about the issues that plague citizens. No citizen is interested in the blockages created artificially which block the work of the institutions. Citizens want discussions on the economy, recovery and health, and that is what is essential, ”said the head of the EU delegation.
Besides the visit of the President of the European Commission, Mr Sattler said that October 6 is also an important date for BiH, as EU member heads of state will meet with leaders of the Western Balkan countries.
“Besides the visit of the President of the European Commission, we have an important date ahead of us – October 6. There are plans to organize a summit between the 27 EU Member States, where all heads of state and representatives of the Western Balkans will be present. What is important for BiH is to prepare and show positive messages, bearing in mind that this country has applied for EU membership, ”he explained.
Finally, Sattler noted that issues related to electoral and constitutional changes cannot be overlooked.
“Apart from these subjects that I have underlined, the importance of constitutional and electoral questions should not be overlooked. It is important to work on this part by October 2022. We have an inter-ministerial working group which should be allowed to work on these issues which include not only the implementation of judgments of the European Court of Human Rights but also the integrity of the electoral process. , which will allow greater transparency of the system and the elimination of corruption, ”concluded Sattler, writes Klix.ba.
