CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: October 15 is the deadline for the Stop Motion Forum ANIMARKT 2021 pitch

€ 2,000 in cash to spend on your production in one of the countries of the Visegrád group

These are some of the prizes for the 15 ANIMARKT Pitching 2021 finalists, who will have the opportunity to present their projects at the only event in the world dedicated to the stop motion animation industry. Submissions are now being accepted – deadline is October 15th.

Pitching is the competition section of the Stop Motion Forum ANIMARKT, intended for short stop motion animations from around the world under development. It offers artists the opportunity to present their projects to a group of experts in the animation industry, gain partners and win awards that will support their film production processes and open up career paths for them. – It has been proven time and time again that an award at ANIMARKT Pitching translates directly into the future of the artist and his project. – Agnieszka Kowalewska-Skowron from MOMAKIN, the organizer of the Forum Stop Motion ANIMARKT, underlines. – For example, the post-production of the animated film “Astra” directed by Michał Łubiński, our 2018 finalist, is currently underway. – She adds.

Pitching ANIMARKT is open to projects under development, with at least the first version of the script and not exceeding 30 minutes. The prerequisite is that 80% of the animation is scheduled in stop motion. The call for applications is open for projects all over the world, but additional points are awarded to applications from the following countries: Croatia, Czechia, Estonia, Greece, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Hungary, Iceland, Latvia, Lichtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta , Montenegro, North Macedonia, Republic of Serbia, Slovakia and Slovenia.

As every year, the Pitching finalists will be able to prepare well for their December presentations – training sessions will be organized on presentation and public speaking, script or production techniques. – Pitch participants work with our experts even before the event. We make sure to help each finalist feel confident ahead of their decisive performance – Paulina Zacharek from MOMAKIN, who co-organizes the ANIMARKT Stop Motion Forum, declares and adds that the event will be an opportunity to discuss very important issues for the creation of a film, such as the making of animated puppets.

Among the experts who will lead the training sessions are a recognized journalist Nancy Denney Phelps, member of the International Animated Film Association (ASIFA) and juror at numerous animated film festivals with links to, and Marcin Zalewski, an experienced puppet maker who has created puppets for films such as “Peter and the Wolf” and “Isle of Dogs”. It will also be possible to participate in public speaking exercises with the composer and the musician Nik Phelps, or discuss scripts with Anna bielak, a screenwriter and scenario consultant well known in the Polish animation community.

This year’s ANIMARKT Pitching prize pool includes 2,000 euros in cash to be spent on production in one of the countries of the Visegrád group (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia) or a special award in the form of a voucher of PLN 60,000 (around 13,000 EUR) financed by the Audiovisual Technology Center (CeTA) in Wrocław to use its facilities, equipment and services. Participants will also be able to win professional working tools, namely the Dragonframe software, professional support in the form of expert consultation on the making of a stop motion puppet with Marcin Zalewski, or industry accreditation for Mifa 2022 in Annecy.

The deadline for registering for ANIMARKT Pitching is October 15, 2021. The fifteen selected projects will be announced on October 30.

The Stop Motion Forum ANIMARKT will be held exceptionally from December 7 to 11, 2021 in ódź. In addition to the Pitch Competition, the main program will include workshops, masterclasses and round tables for students and young specialists (the Masters section). The forum could not take place without the Companies section which focuses on industry networking or recruiting sessions for global animation studios.
