Bosnia to build Serbia-funded Trebinje airport by 2023


SARAJEVO (Bosnia and Herzegovina), September 15 (SeeNews) – Bosnia’s new Trebinje airport, which will be built with financial support from the Serbian government, is expected to be completed in 2023, said Milorad Dodik, Serbian member of the Bosnian collective presidency . .

The responsibilities of the parties involved and the procedures related to the construction of the airport were discussed in a meeting with representatives of Serbian company Aerodromi Srbije, which insisted on speeding up the project, Dodik told a conference. release published Tuesday by public broadcaster RTRS on YouTube.

Construction is expected to begin in spring 2022, Aerodromi Srbije director Mihajlo Zdravkovic said at the press conference.

Trebinje is located in the Serbian Republic – one of the two autonomous entities that make up Bosnia. The other is the Muslim-Croatian Federation.

Aerodromi Srbije is a public company responsible for the management, development and maintenance of all Serbian airports.

Last year Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said the country was ready to invest large sums to build the complete infrastructure and run an airport near Trebinje. According to previous Serbian media reports, the airport could be operated under a concession for 30 or 35 years.
