Banja Luka, Bosnia, July 5, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – In view of the modernization of the tourism industry in Bosnia and Herzegovina, BiH tourismthe online platform of Bihy continues to expand, with additional funding from Disrupt the group.
The ambitious multi-channel project offers the region’s travel and tourism companies unprecedented access to national and international audiences. Local businesses can promote their products and services through a mobile app, well-established social media channels, and a multilingual online portal that is quickly becoming the region’s most popular tourism website.
Businesses can update their content in real time through an interactive web panel that allows them to manage schedules, availability, online payments and more, bringing Bosnia and Herzegovina‘s tourism industry up to standards and modern global expectations.
To date, the project has passed several stages. Highlights include:
- The online portal (tourismbih.com) now covers 19 national destinations, and it is the first time that a site of this type, specifically optimized for international tourists, and integrating e-commerce, has covered such a large part of the country.
- Fueled by a viral social media campaign, the #bihy hashtag has generated incredible interest from domestic and international travelers sharing their content. It is one of the most dynamic in the region, with more than 16,000 publications to date.
- Together, the Bihy social media and tourismbih.com the website now receives over a million combined impressions per month, with the Instagram account now the largest of its kind in the country
According to Disrupt the groupthe CEO of, Bogdan Stevanovic, BiH / Bihy tourism could not have happened earlier:
“The structure of the tourism sector in Bosnia and Herzegovina is incredibly disparate and siled. There is also a huge lack of information available for international tourists. Bihy aims to correct this. It brings everything together – from travel advice to booking and selling tickets – in one centralized place. It also responds to the urgent need for digitization – in other words, modernization – which has hampered the growth of the sector in the region for some time now. “
The additional funding will propel the project into its second phase, which will include the launch and distribution of educational materials. This will include a learning and development platform that will support BiH businesses in adopting modern digital practices and accelerate their recovery from the (tourism) impact of COVID-19.
